■Comments from jury members
- The works submitted to the competition were rich in variety. We successfully selected in a balanced manner, incorporating both works showing traditional Japanese skills, and works emphasizing the modern sense of the moment.
- The works that we selected represent distinct aspects of what we call KOBE Biennale style, which indicates that this competition has been developing its uniqueness.
- Our overall impression is that although the artists are technically skillful, their expressions are rather weak and uniform. In addition to skillfulness, we seek works that move our hearts.
